Stress Reduction for Freedom

Welcome to change your mind meditation.  I want you to find a comfortable place to sit or lay down and if you feel comfortable close your eyes.  I want you to take a deep breath in and as you exhale release any stress or tension in your body.  Take another deep breath in and with your exhale let your mind relax and let go of the worries of the day.  Take a final deep breath in inhaling peace and calm and with your final exhale release any tension and stress in your body and mind.

Thank you for coming in to the stress reduction session today.  I want you to imagine that you wake up in the morning with complete freedom.  You have no obligations; nothing you need to do, nowhere you need to be, and no one you need to be.  You can act as you would like; you can do what you would like.  Feel that freedom.  How is it different from how you feel most days?  Return to that feeling of freedom and experience the release of letting go of your obligations.   Now I want you to think of the statement “Freedom is my divine right.” Remember that besides doing what we need to shelter and feed ourselves and our children, most of our obligations are self imposed.   We do not need to agree to everything that is asked of us.  We do not need to attend functions that are not necessary.  We do not need to participate in groups that we don’t find beneficial.  Give yourself permission to release some of those obligations that are not fulfilling.

I am free to think wonderful thoughts.  I move beyond past limitations into freedom.  I am now becoming all that I am created to be.  Hold on to that feeling and know that you can return to this feeling of calm and peace and freedom.  You may now drift off to sleep or begin to return to the room by wiggling your fingers and toes and when you feel ready opening your eyes.  Remember meditation changes your mind.
