August Tarot Horoscope

There are a lot of powerful energies.  For me in the Northern Hemisphere, August is the time for our last push through the summer.  Then we start heading into a more introspective time in the fall.

Although you want to make sure that you start everything that you want to get done this year, you also need to make sure to schedule some downtime to check you are heading in the right direction.

Are the goals you made at the beginning of the year still resonating with you or is it time to shift gears?  There is no shame in changing your mind and following your intuition to head in a better direction.

Find Your Path

This New Moon is about starting on a new journey.  Finding a new area to learn, expand and/or create.  This new moon should give you the energy to start over in some area of your life.  Use this guided meditation to contemplate where you would like to use that energy.

Take a few deep breaths and close your eyes.  Find yourself standing in front of a tube of energy.  What does the energy look like to you?  What color is it?  Is it solid or does it have openings throughout the tunnel?  The tunnel is large enough for a person to walk through.

How do you feel being near the tunnel?  Place your hands on the energy the tunnel is made of.  What does it feel like?  How does it make you feel?

This is a tunnel of power.  By walking through it you can start building a new attribute inside yourself.  When you walk out the other end it won’t be fully formed but will start growing.  What skill, feeling, trait or understanding would you like to have more of?

Once you are certain of the attribute you have chosen, bend over slightly and enter the tunnel.  How does it feel being inside the tunnel? What does it feel like to be surrounded by all that energy? Walk slowly and give the energy time to penetrate all of the cells in your body.

Walk out of the tunnel and see how you feel.  Think of the attribute you have chosen.  Why is this something you want more of in your life?

What might be the first sign that this new attribute had started to grow? How would you act differently?  How would you think differently?  What would look different in your life?  Remember, this is just the beginning of this change so what you see may be small.

Take a few more deep breaths and feel how you are different.  It may be a very slight change but it can grow if it is nurtured.  Feel this change settle into your body and allow it to nestle in deep so it can continue to grow.

When you feel ready you can return to your physical body.  Hear the sounds around you.  Wiggle your fingers and toes, and open your eyes.

Take some notes so you do not forget this meditation and can check back on the progress of your attribute.

Does change have a physical feeling for you?

Is there something that you have wanted to cultivate in your life?

How would you know if this was just starting to grow in your life?

What do you think this change would bring you?

Can you have the patience to nurture something that may take a long time to become fully formed?

Guided Meditation for Detoxification

The idea of finding balance in our lives is very tricky.  If we think of equally dividing our time between all areas of our lives, that is impossible.  We would not be effective in any area.

We all have a limited amount of energy and we have to decide where to place it each day.  Sometimes we focus more on our families and other times our careers.  Sometimes our bodies force us to focus on health rather than social activities.

The important thing is that we are conscious of our priorities and we accept that we can’t do everything at once.  Think of your top three priorities and make sure you are scheduling time for those each week.  Try this meditation to help you focus.

Take a few deep breaths and find yourself at the edge of the caldera of a volcano.  It is not erupting and you do not feel in danger, but you can feel some warmth from the caldera and see some lava below.  This is definitely an active volcano and you can feel its power.

You lay down on the side of the volcano to get a better look over the edge while still feeling safe.  You see the bubbles of lava and hard crust that forms over the top again.  You see the steam rise.

You know this fire is inside you as well.  Just as the fire fuels the volcano it also fuels you with energy and strength.  Your warm blood keeps you energized and removes the toxins from your body.

Where do you need to send the energy of your eternal fire?  Do you need it to help heal and support your body? Do you need it to help give you energy for a project? Do you need it to focus your mind in one area?

Take a deep breath and on the exhale I want you to send the heat and flame to the area that you most need it.  Do this a few more times and focus your breath.

Now think of what toxins need to be removed.  What are you ready to take a break from?  Is there an area where you need a detox (media, sugar, alcohol, overtime at work)?  What do you need to let go of to make room for your new endeavors?

Take a deep breath in and on the exhale let go of the feeling that this thing or activity is something you need in your life to survive.  Know that we can take a short break from almost anything (except for air and water) and function just fine.  Decide if you are ready to experiment with taking a break (even just for one day) and see how you feel.

Now focus again on the fire within you. It may appear as a flame, lava or even just warmth.  Send this fire energy through your whole body and feel it nourish you and feed you cells.  Feel the heat from the volcano on your face and feel the connection with that warmth from the earth.  Sit with this comforting feeling a bit longer.

When you feel ready begin to return to the sounds around your physical body.  Wiggle your fingers and toes; open your eyes.

Take a few minutes to write down your experience and answer the following questions to gain more from your meditation.

In what area are you feeling energized?

What will give you strength to move forward in this area?

What area of your life do you need to pull back from?

Can you plan a detox to try a different way of living for even one day?

If you had to focus on just one area right now what would it be?

Room (Deck) of Requirement

It is time to take stock of what you currently need in your life. Take some time for yourself.  If you feel energized, find a way to be creative at this time and you may be amazed at what you can do.

Here is a guided meditation to help you discover what is lacking in your life right now.

Take a few deep breaths and close your eyes.  Find yourself on a deck overlooking a beautiful green landscape.  Take in all of the varieties of green in front of you and the beauty of the land.  Feel gratitude for being allowed to visit this place and view the landscape around you.  Do you recognize this place?  Is it somewhere you have visited in your physical body, seen in some form of media or is it totally new to you?  Breathe deeply.  Is the air warm or cool?  Does it feel humid or dry?  What are the sounds around you?  Can you hear animals or water nearby?

How do you feel in the place?  What do you want to do while you are here?  Do you feel the need to be creative or just relax?  Sit down on the deck and look out, allowing this feeling to fill you up.  If you feel the need to create something, you will find that you have everything you need in a basket on the deck.  There may be books for reading, or paints, or journals.  Whatever you need.  The basket may also have pillows for you to get more comfortable and rest or doze.  Are you surprised by what you need in this place?

Enjoy the freedom to just follow what you are compelled to do.  Continue to breathe deeply and listen fully to the sounds around you.  Soon you are joined by a guide on the deck.  They sit by you companionably in silence for a bit.  You may begin to chat about the beauty of this place with your guide.  You can ask them where you are if you aren’t sure.

Discuss the feeling you have in this place and why you think these came up for you.  Is there something you are lacking in your physical life that you can only find here?  You may ask your guide any questions that come up for you.  Ask your guide if they need anything from you, and if you can, give it gratefully.  Your guide then rises and gives you a hug.  In that hug, you feel all of their love and support and know it is always there for you to receive.  Your guide walks off the deck after saying goodbye for now.

You sit and enjoy the deck for as long as you need to, in order to feel rejuvenated.  When you feel ready you can start to feel the sounds around your physical body.  Wiggle your fingers and toes, and open your eyes.

Take some notes for further clarity:

What did you feel compelled to do in the beautiful place in your meditation?

What would be your dream vacation right now?

What need would this vacation fulfill?

When is the last time you took some time off, even if it was just an afternoon?

Can you schedule a break into your calendar over the next month, even if it is just for an hour, with no obligations?

Ritual for Summer Magick

It is time to plan your path for this cycle and decide where you want to go. Make sure to follow the path you are called to, not the one you think you should be on.  You are the one that has to follow your path and hopefully you will be on it for a long time.  Make it a path you want to be on, even if others think it is crazy.

Light a candle and/or smudge your room.  Get comfortable and journey to receive guidance on where to go. Read through the following meditation and then close your eyes and remember what you can.  Don't worry if your journey is different than this one.  Your journey is exactly correct for you. Have a journal nearby to write notes afterwards.

Take a few deep breaths and close your eyes.  Find yourself in front of a long road that leads off into the distance.  The ground is flat and there are meadows on either side.  You can see that the road heads on a straight path way off to the horizon.  What does it feel like to stand on this road? Is it hard under your feet?  Does the idea of heading down this path feel invigorating or exhausting?

The weather is warm and you feel a light breeze.  You smell the flowers growing on the side of the road.  You walk off the road for a moment and into the meadow.  You take a deep inhale of the flowers.  You pick one to place behind your ear.  How does it feel to be in the meadow rather than on the road?

You walk through the meadow parallel to the road for a while.  It is slower to walk through than the road, but you enjoy the feel of the grass and the smell of the flowers.  You then decide to return to the road and walk there for a while.  You look off into the meadow and find that your walk on the road is not as hard after your respite in the meadow.

After a while you decide to enter the meadow again.  Do you walk parallel to the road again or decide to walk off farther into the meadow? Do whatever you feel called to do.  You may walk far from the road to some shade on the side of the meadow or stick close to the road to keep heading in the right direction.  Either decision is fine.  You may decide to sit by a nearby river for a while or head back to the road to move faster.  Follow your own path.

Soon you see someone walking through the meadow toward you.  This is a guide who has come to assist you on your travels.  Greet this guide, and if they are new to you, ask their name.  Ask what they suggest you do next on your travels.  Ask if they have any suggestions on how to continue your journey.  Your guide continues to walk with you and you seem to go a long distance with the support of another person.

Eventually your guide says it is time for them to leave but they will return to walk with you again, as will many other guides along the way.  Thank your guide and wave as they walk away through the meadow.  Sit down for a moment and think about the journey you have already taken.  Now decide where you would like to go next.  A more direct route near the road or do you enjoy a meandering route through the meadow.  Remember you can change your mind at any time and head in a different direction.

When you are ready to return to your physical body, listen for the sounds around you.  Wiggle your fingers and toes and open your eyes.

Write down some notes for extra insight.
What type of journey do you feel like you are on right now?

Do you like a direct path to your goals or do you enjoy a more relaxing and meandering route?

Who do you have to help on your path right now?

Where might you find someone else who can assist you towards your goal?

Is it time to take a break on your path or push forward?

Now have something delicious to eat or drink to help anchor you to your physical body.  Have a lovely ritual and make it important for you.

July Energies

July is almost here.  This is the most potent time of year for me in terms of getting stuff done.  The energy seems all over the place this month so pay close attention to when you move forward and when you rest and refuel.

You don't have to wait for the New or Full Moon to make your plans or celebrate a change you want to make. If you notice the energy of one day meets your objective, circle that on your calendar and a create a special "manifestation" holiday!
