Welcome to change your mind meditation. I want you to find a comfortable place to sit or lay down and if you feel comfortable close your eyes. Take a deep breath allowing your body to relax and as you exhale release any tension or stress in your body. Take another deep breathe in, releasing any worries or stress in your mind. As you exhale you know this time is for you; you don't need to think of anything else. With your final inhale you relax in the body and mind and as you exhale you release any remaining tension or anxiety.
You're now in a nice warm kitchen. You've just entered from the cold and seated yourself near a heater so your body can warm. There is someone in the kitchen with you, and they bring you a warm mug of tea or coffee. As you hold the mug, your hands warm and you inhale the aroma of the drink. As you drink you feel your body warm and relax. The person in the kitchen is cooking and making dinner for the two of you to share. You can smell baking bread and your favorite dinner and maybe even some cake and cookies for dessert. The kitchen spells wonderful and the sounds of cooking are soft and soothing. You feel your body relax. You feel well cared for and taken care of. You know you are loved and having that love lets you feel relaxed and comfortable. The warmth of your house, the food in your kitchen and the love another person is the most important part of your life. Food, shelter and love; once those basic needs are met, everything else that comes into your life (material items, money, success) those are all extra, but your happiness is built on just having these basic needs. They are what is important and you know they are enough. That allows you to relax and to let go of any other worries you may have. You feel comfortable and warm and calm.
I want you to remember that feeling of appreciation for what you have, as you drift off to sleep or return to the room by wiggling your fingers and toes and when you feel ready opening your eyes. Remember meditation changes your mind.
